Speech title: Network Slicing for 5G and Beyond

Abstract:

Network slicing allows network providers to lease bundles of computing, storage, and network resources to service providers, active within commercial domains often termed as verticals. This opens up a unique opportunity for services to get deeply integrated into the network infrastructure, realizing innovative applications with stringent performance and/or latency requirements. In this respect, I will talk about key challenges for network slicing and will present recent architectures for network slicing orchestration. Furthermore, I will stress on the need for cross-slice communication, as means for cross-service interactions in the case of service co-location. In this context, I will present the MESON project architecture for cross-slice communication in a secure and controlled manner.
